MILL & LATHE MACHINE SET UP
MORryde is currently seeking a Mill and Lathe Set Up Operator to join our machining centers! The ideal candidate will be competent in operating CNC Mills and Lathes and possess the leadership skills to further our team’s success. They will be responsible for setting up, calibrating, controlling, and adjusting machines while ensuring team members are adequately trained in all aspects of the machining department.
Hours:
1st Shift, 5:00am – 1:00pm
3rd Shift, 9:00pm – 5:00am, includes $5 shift premium

What we’re looking for:
Ability to set up and operate CNC mills and lathes
Strong understanding of machining parts to print specifications
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, tolerances, and manufacturing prints
Skilled use of measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges
Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude
Ability to troubleshoot setup, tooling, quality, and machining issues
Working knowledge of feeds, speeds, tooling, work holding, and part inspection
Ability to maintain part quality and process consistency throughout production
Proven leadership ability and willingness to hold standards
Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
Ability to work well with a diverse team and communicate effectively across shifts
What you’ll do:
Set up CNC mills and lathes to produce parts that meet print and quality requirements
Verify machines are fully ready to run, including tooling, offsets, work holding, and first-piece approval
Machine parts to print specifications and adjust as needed to maintain quality
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues to minimize downtime and scrap
Help lead the day-to-day activities of the machine shop and keep work moving to schedule
Train, mentor, and support machinists and operators on proper setup, operation, inspection, and machining practices
Ensure team members are following safe work practices, quality standards, and established procedures
Communicate production status, concerns, and priorities to management
Help drive accountability for performance, quality, and shop organization
Diagnose tool wear patterns and determine root causes of machining issues
Provide input on process improvements, tooling improvements, and product optimization
Perform first-piece, in-process, and final quality inspections as required
Support continuous improvement in efficiency, setup reduction, and overall machine shop performance
